I have been so lucky to be able to spend many years travelling the globe meeting wonderful people, visiting magical places, witnessing wonderous sights and experiencing extraordinary moments in another time, another place, another culture.... And whilst I have called my blog "Wanderlust" I could just have easily called it "Wonderlust" for I have always had a lust for learning, for knowledge, for experiences and a deep and

One Day in New York...

In memory of those who gave and lost their lives on the 11th of September 2001 - I wanted to post this piece that I felt inspired to write 10 years ago when I visited New York city to pay my respects. July 14, 2003 – World Trade Centre. I won’t refer to it as the World Trade Centre site as the spirit of the Twin Towers is still here, it is palpable. So it will remain, to me, the World Trade Centre. The weather is very overcast with a definite threat of rain. And as a child I always yearned to go and live in that little house on the prairie just like 'Half Pint' (if you watched the show you would understand) as life seemed so much kinder, simpler and yet richer than the world I was living in. And no to all of the smarty pants out there (yes that means you Danielsan :-)...I didn't want to live on the set in

ABBA-Land here we come..

I know it's been a while since I last blogged but yes, I'm still alive and yes, its time once more to say So Long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, Hasta Mañana. Whilst in Manuel Antonios, Costa Rica I stayed in the jungle on a peninsula surrounded by beaches (just call me Mowgli). Yes, I do have a pretty hard life and yes for my posts I'm jumping back and forth in time but so what, it's my blog. Pura Vida! And get this, not one of the locals, staff or jungle guides that I asked had any idea whatsoever who the hell Manuel Antonios was. A whole region and the most magnificent jungle National Park is

Pure Bliss; Lost in Translation....

My Korean Day Spa experience aka assault aka grievous bodily harm.... That is literally the lyrics to the song being played in the car as PePa drives me to the airport to embark on the next chapter in my adventures in Mesoamerica. I'll hazard a guess that's probably the reason why there are no Peruvian artists storming up the international music charts. Yes my trusty PePa is back, and yes, I did take my life into my hands and buy a return ticket for my adrenalin Disneyland ride only this time it was more white knuckled. It was a welcome and well deserved massage after my last few days spent around and on [yes...on!] the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. But more on that later, the magnificence of Machu Picchu deserves a blog all on it's own. Oh and by the way did you notice that I have added another word to my Spanish vocab - dinero!
